What sound cards would you recommend? My MB is MSI X370 Carbon Pro, incase my integrated stuff sucks. I'm kind of new to this audio thing. I looked at the pinned threads, but they seem geared towards people who know stuff. I don't really. I had been getting mixed reviews about sound cards good or sound cards bad. If the microphone is USB, does the sound card really matter?

i havent been browsing soundcards for a while, i cant give advice on the newer generations  , im using a soundblaster recon3d champion myself

i guess any high end soundcard would do the trick,

however when browsing for soundcards, try to atleast listen to preview samples ( yes there is preview samples out there, they will never sound the same as on the actual card  but u can hear the equalization n stuff of a soundcard )

i think ur best bet in browsing soundcards = , check for what is high quality and what u personally like in sound ( samples n stuff )

if the microphone is usb it wont run off the soundcard , usb headsets and mics have their own onboard little soundcard, which is why for high quality solutions ppl stay away from usb, and go with te plugs instead :P

I'm looking at getting the Audio Technica AT2020. I currently play with my Corsair Void, and I keep hearing the audio quality of a "real" mic will be better. Plus, I'm trying to get back into YouTube video's as a hobby over the summer, so a better mic would make things easier.

With that said, one thing my friends constantly say about playing online is they can hear the keys of my K70. I'm looking at getting the AT2020 with a shock mount and pop filter, and will be suspended on an arm. Will this still pick up my keyboard as I play? And if so, what are some recommendations to alleviate this clicking sound everyone else hears?

getting a new mic or headset doesnt do much if u got a shitty soundcard

id rather have a good soundcard and use mp3 ears then have a good headset with a shitty soundcard, u can hear the difference even on mp3 ear plugs :v

id say most of mic quality comes from a proper soundcard / dac at first ( with proper shielding n what not )

also

With that said, one thing my friends constantly say about playing online is they can hear the keys of my K70

the answer to this

is a good soundcard with noise cancelling support + mic that supports it ( analog mic will jsujt do fine )

when i enable noise cancelling on my recon3d champion > no key presses are heard on a k65 ( red switch )

when i use onboard soundcard noise cancelling, quality is terrible and presses can be heard

So, if I go the soundcard route, this is what I would need between the Mic and the sound card? https://www.amazon.com/Movo-Mini-Jack-Microphone-Connector-Camcorders/dp/B071WN5RDV/ref=sr_1_13?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1524949250&sr=1-13&keywords=xlr+audio+interface

Or do I still need an audio interface? Most from what I've seen output to USB, which would eliminate the requirement for the sound card, correct?

soundcards come with 3.5mm ( most of em )  and digital in / digital out ,  ucan try searching for a digital microphone ( with optical plug i guess )

if u just use a 3.5mm mic,  u dont need anything between, usb mics wont work on soundcars coz they have onboard + usb interface requires somthing to drive it basicly

id say if u didnt order the usb mic yet

just get a 3.5mm high quality mic ( noise cancelling supported )  good soundcard , set ur noise cancellin good and u should be good to go

my soundcard is outdated against the cards out ther eright now. and i have a home fan on stage 3 ( maximum speed ) those big steel fans... next to my friggen headset and they dont even hear that thing LOL  ^^

however u can also just choose a dac,  its up to u, i personally recommend pci-e proper soundcard ... but thats only because i didnt use dacs so i cant recommend em, gotta ask som1 else that has experience wth dacs against soundcards ( check reviews and what not )

just keep in mind, sound is personal ,  ppl have different ears + different taste,, what som1 might like ... u might not   just try to find the general positives and negatives ppl mention and see if it might fit u or not

i guess with dacs it should be easier, they might even allow u to test them in a store, but then again pci-e soundcards have a 14day return policy to i guess ( atleast in my country )  xD id say just try until u find what suits u , however i think ul be amazed by a good soundcard in general with some decent speakers n some noise cancelling mic .

I had a bunch of issues with keyboard noises (blue switches) coming through on Discord while gaming and couldn't really find a software solution.
So I developed Noise Blocker. Basically you record samples of noise you want to block (i.e typing on your keyboard) and it will suppresses the incoming audio accordingly. Here a short video of it in action. Hope it helps!
