I'm not sure if this is the right thread, but on the peripherals topic everyone's just talking about which to buy etc. so I figured out I'd ask here.

Ok so, first of all, I found a lot of threads only with this issue. Sadly I couldn't find a real fix and all of those posts are mostly outdated and CPU related. (I'm talking 2013ish stuff).

So basically the problem is that games and even OS lag out when I move my mouse, like pretty bad. I'm dropping from 300 FPS to 30 FPS. I'm running an MSI GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Gaming X, Ryzen 7 1700 @3.8 GHz, MSI B350 Gaming Pro Carbon and a Logitech G502.

If I decrease my polling rate to 500 the lag gets better "only" dropping around 100 frames and OS feels a bit smoother. But still not what you would expect from this setup I think.

So as I said earlier I was able to find multiple threads dealing with this issue. But mostly everyone just fixed it by dropping the polling rate to 250 which isn't really optimal when gaming on a 200 Hz monitor more or less competitively.

I tried out my MX Master S2 and if I use it, there aren't any issues (keep in mind that I don't unplug the G502, so even having it plugged in isn't an issue). How could I possibly fix this? I already tried uninstalling it in the device manager including the drivers and then restarting letting it download again. How much exactly do I need to uninstall and when am I able to reinstall without having any leftovers?

If anyone wants to see some slo-mo footage I could probably get something up so the issue is more clear.

Thanks in advance for any help.

sounds like a driver issue of sorts

That's what I guessed at first too but I couldn't find any new posts on this so it probably is case specific. But I'm not sure how I would go about removing every single bit of the driver and talking about it I don't think there's any way I can force a fresh install of the driver on the mouse in this shitty outdated LGS. Any idea what to do?

Update drivers, try again. It sounds like a mouse driver issue, but if that doesn't work do GPU drivers as well.

They are both up to date, that's what bothers me. I can't find anything new about this topic so it probably is Hardware related which bothers me.

I'd say it's an issue with your mouse. If the MX works fine, then the only possible explanation is the mouse.

I have a similar issue when my 4k monitor resets to 30 hz. Check refresh rate going through display properties then advanced settings. Changing from 30 to 60hz (monitors native refresh rate) fixes this problem for me.

Nah I would realize it instantly since 200 Hz to 30 would be quite the difference. But I just checked and it still is sporting the full refresh rate. No idea what is going on.

Do you have a restore point you can roll back to? If not a full reinstall would be the next level, however that's kind of an extreme option depending on what all you have saved on your OS drive.

Honestly, I don't think it's worth the hassle. I would have one but I think the mouse is just dead. I mean I've owned it for 4 years now I think. It's probably time to get rid of it anyways and switch to wireless. For now, I'm just gonna use it with a polling rate at 500. And the problem is I wouldn't know where to restore anyway since I had this problem like 2 months ago already but it just went away after some time back then.
