"Old School" Rig

Hello...

I'm looking to get a PCI or PCIe card good enough to run Half Life, Quake, and Deus Ex.

My current card runs half life at about 15fps

Here's what I have so far:

OS: Windows 98SE
PSU: 365W Stock HP

CPU: Pentium 4 3.46ghz

Sound Card: Soundblaster LIVE Value

Gpu: Trident Provida 9685

Ram: 512mb DDR2

HD: 80GB IDE

(If if helps, I live around the Vancouver, Canada area.)

are you sure the cpu is not the bottleneck?

On those games? :D Definitely it's not the bottleneck.

No, it's got its own PCI slot. And yeah, that Pentium 4 DEFINITELY isn't the bottleneck.

I think that trident has like a WHOPPING 4mb of Vram.

Based on what u HV written....I guess it's an lga 775 based system.....

Get a cheapo GPU like Radeon 7770 or 6770 fr about $20-25...ND u should be fine....

If u HV extra cash...then buy a q6600 fr around $10-15.

ND 4gb ram fr around $10-15 ND u should be able to play newer titles
