Hello, everyone.

I have just completed my new build with a i5 4440 and an R9 270. When I booted it for the first time, there was only a black screen on my monitor. The connection is VGA and it is connected to my motherboard. My R9 270 doesn't have a VGA, so I can't connect it to that, am I suppose to for the computer to display when it boot?

My CPU fan, GPU fan and case fans are working

try removing the R9 270 from the system then reboot again , the bios might be set to try booting with the card 1st, not the on board graphics

did the R9 270 come with a dvi to vga adapter ? if so you can use that to connect the card to your monitor

Thanks so much :D

Sorry, this was my first build ever, now it's working.

btw, it was the GPU that I had to take out.

Oh yeah, just one problem, how do I get my graphics card to work on boot? I do not have an OS yet so.

Sorry for being a noob :(

Edit: I think I'm retarded, I just said my 270 doesn't have VGA...

in your bios settings it should have a setting Primary Display Adapter > PCI-E will use a GPU card over on board or something similar, with out knowing what mobo your using i cant tell you exactly where or what it says

use one of these to use that card on your monitor

If you have an adaptor for your graphics card to convert from DVI to VGA (normally included with the GPU), just connect that between your GPU and screen and it will work. If you don't, you're going to need to in order to make use of the graphics card because although programs like virtu MVP can let you render on the GPU and output from the integrated graphics, it's not optimal, but if you must, without the GPU connected there should be a setting to switch between defaulting to the iGPU and the discrete GPU in the BIOS.
