New laptop crashes often

Not too long ago, I bought a new HP laptop but now today it has crashed twice.

My laptop seem to crash even if I am not running so many programs at once...
I only ran Google Chrome (while downloading a big song file) and also ran powerpoint slides and a few files only.

Is it because I download large files therefore the computer hangs and crashes?
When i say crash..it is not BSOD its just the screen freeze and none of the keyboard nor cursor is responding to it.

Any suggestions?

Please comment if u need any further questions about my issue :)

Anyway, looks like you need a clean install Windows. Also consider add RAM and SSD, Windows 10 with 4GB RAM and HDD = DISASTER. Also consider hardware check mentioned above, there may be defective parts even though the laptop is new.

BTW 8550U will not be much faster than 8250U due to cooling and TDP limitations. You pay a premium without any significant gains. Also, HP Pavilion laptops are mediocre in general: build quality, battery life etc. Why don't ask for suggestions first in forums before buying?

In the first place...I don't need like a big gaming laptop for gaming purposes.
Plus weight is an issue too if you are referring to MSI or other brands.

Yes..I wanna add SSD soon so its okay...I ran a quick test and all systems are fine tho.

I know HP is not rlly high end product and I have been through a lot of second thoughts...It suits me for now and thank you for your concern :)

Plus its a little to late now to take it back :(

I NEVER suggest gaming laptop for you. Every brand has good and bad models, same goes to HP.

I just updated BIOS to March 2018 version...Hopes this work and solves the issue. Will check back and update in a few days.
