Is overclocking worth it?

I got myselve a ryzen 7 1700 and i will get a rx 580 probably, i will be livestreaming games like rainbow 6 siege, pubg and other non heavy to heavy games. Do i need to overclock? I mean, i feel like overclocking is out my comfort zone coz it.might be alittle dangerous but it also might be good

I suggest that you should overclock if you want to squeeze every last drop of performance out of your system. Don't worry about your CPU lifespan, just make sure that you balance it out and do it properly. If you do that, then no problems. Also if you overclock, then you should invest in a different CPU cooler.

no you do not need to overclock with what you are wanting to do. The 1700 in stock trim is wholly capable.

Yeah but it might thermal throttle, you can get the cooler if you want to stay on the safe side.

Thermal throttle is at 95 degrees. On kyle (bitwit)s channel he overclocked it to 4ghz w 50 degrees on gta v

The cooler is for if you really want to push it, say 4.5-4.8Ghz, since the 1700 is more than capable of it

Just don't go over 1.35 to 1.375 V you should be able to do at least 3800mhz if not more.

You can just load up Ryzen Master and make the overclocking easy.

But the main thing is if you want to squeeze performance out then overclock, first start doing stuff that you normally would do on the PC. If you're comfortable with it then leave it as it is, if not then overclock. Simple as.

some people OC to get a year or two more out of their old system, some do it so that they can get more frames per second (eSports types), some people do it so that the transcoded video projects take a bit less time to render, some people do it to get world records... lots of reasons really. but for what you're doing (live streaming), you'll be quite content with the 1700 in stock form.
