AMD 8350 still good cpu?

Hey guys yesterday was a bad day for me cuz my i7 3770 died in the process of deliding ... and a friend of mine is selling a Amd 8350 with asus aura 970 pro and 16gb ddr3 1600mhz ram for around 200$ so is it a good deal ?
I'm searching for a similar gaming performance to my last build with i7 3770 and 8g of ram. also i head about fx series not supporting pice 3.0 and i'm using Gtx 780 Gainward GLH edition with 15% factory overclock, will there be any bottleneck?

R3 1200 or 2200G is better than FX 8350.

$200 is not that bad deal considering the RAM prices but honestly... I would not pay that much for an outdated platform with no upgrade path.

Buy used 3770 or 3770k instead if you still have your old HW.

Gaming performance wise, the 8350 is no match to the 3770. That price is meh as well.

PCIe 2.0 is no problem for a GTX 780ti no matter how high your overclock is.

It will be inferior to your dead i7

Price is ok I suppose, but you should be able to get a motherboard+i7 2600k for lower price

I'm assuming that your 8GB of RAM still work fine?

Hell, if you have a z77 motherboard, it will work with 2600k.

I don't know since i can't boot the machine but i guess it should be working fine guess a dead cpu can't hurt the ram or the video card? But i was experincing lack of ram last day while playing newer games with google chrome open in the background so those 16gb ram will come in handy if i buy the mobo-cpu-ram combo.

And i don't want to buy Old intel cpu because of the thermal paste between the die and the IHS cuz my i7 3770 with bequiet pure rock 120mm and Mx2 ran at around 40-45degrees at idle and i have rather expensive case with good airflow. And that was the main reason i decided to delid mine.

you can literally get better 3rd party paste for like $5 to $10 dollars; get the i7 3770 and just buy better paste as well if thats your concern

Isn't this what he was trying to do? Replace the stock thermal paste that is between the die and IHS? Which resulted in his CPU dying?

Did you try to adjust the fan speed before deliding?

I'm not sure how much useful this info is, but currently I use 2500k at stock clock with Dark Rock Advanced, crappy mATX case (DeepCool Smarter) and the temps at idle are roughly 32-33C. Both 2500k and 2600k are rated at 95 TDP, so if you keep it at stock speeds, temperature shouldn't be that much higher than low/mid 30's

when will the myth that the TMI is the reason for the bad thermal performance die? it's a thickness issue not a material issue. go look at thermal transfer equations and learn some math. it's like your telling me that in E=mc^2 the mass is the most important part of energy. that video linus did with old dead CPUs scrapping their paste off is totally invalid and it should be VERY obvious why.

that doesn't resolve the issue that you have to delid in the end but when you keep saying it's the TIM you're going to make intel just change that and tell everybody they fixed it when they really haven't (because this has been going on for a while now clearly 3770 >> 8700). they don't want to fix the spacing because tighter tolerances means higher risk for them. but the end result is they tell us we shouldn't overclock the unlocked chips they sell us.

I'm going for it since my mobo doesn't even have sata 3 it will be a better option than just buying another i7 + the 16gb of ram

I decided to go with the 8350 combo because the motherboard has a lot of functions that my old one didn't.+ the 16gb of ram it is worth it for a little less performance.

I think you're still fine with the fx 8350, sure it's not the greatest cpu in the world but for a gtx 780 it's still fine. A friend of mine is running the fx 8320 with the gtx 970 and it's working pretty good honestly.

It is not that worth it, since the bulldozer architecture was well inferior to the sandy bridge. The price is not too bad however, it wont bottleneck much, and you should try to look for a sandy bridge or a ivy bridge i7.

if you can get a ryzen motherboard, cpu, and ram for around $200 or $250. then build a ryzen sysem. if not get the $200 fx system until you can get a better system. fx 8350 still can run most of the stuff out their. people just wont take the time to optimize the fx 8 series.

No one is selling ryzen combos used yet at least in my country.my only option is new ryzen setup which will cost me aroud 410$ for ryzen 1500x some casual mobo and 8g of most inexpensive ram out there..

So there is the option to buy the fx8350 combo  with 16gb of ram or some intel I7 2600k combo for about the same but without the ram.

I was just playing far cry 5 on ultra preset with around 50 fps with my i7 3770 and gtx 780 so i want something simillar to that.

For 50 fps with a 780 the fx 8350 will do fine i think. Just don't expect 144fps on a 144Hz monitor or somethink like this. For 60Hz i really think that the 8350 is still a good option, but only if you can get it significantly cheaper than a ryzen cpu or the i3.

I'm using 2 monitors and both are 60hz 1 is for gaming and the other one is for multitasking both are 1080p so i'm not asking for cutting edge 500fps on ultra or smth as i'm not even playing that much games anymore.
