'upgrade' to ryzen2

Right, so im in a unique position where i can return my CPU/MOBO for a full refund and 'upgrade' to a 2700x,

or i could just return my 1800x and save even more money and run the 2700x off my x370 board.

 

what would be the biggest difference between x370 and a 2700x or a x470 board and a 2700x?

Performance wise, very little. They apparently won't overclock as well in X370 boards, and there's a couple features in X470 that aren't found in X370, like XFR2 and Precision Boost 2.

just return both and get x470 with 2700x

kinda stuck between the Asus crosshair Vii Hero (ac) x470 and the X470 AORUS GAMING 7 WIFI

leaning towards the asus board

If your primary use is gaming, then yes.  Best you can buy right now.

asus is better both are fine

 

Don't buy Apple M1 computers with 8GB of RAM

also, it doubles as my file server with plex transcoding so I guess more threads would be beneficial
