FX 4130 overclocking

So my fx 4130 @ 3.8 GHz with the stock heat sink not over clocked was 34* C at 100% cpu usage, i over clocked it to 4.0 and it was 36-37* at 100%. At what temp should i not overclock more? 45* or so? Or should i stop here at a extremely stable 4.0 GHz?

stay below 60, i'd say 60 should be absolute maximum

Cool, ill probably stop at like 45* at 100% then. Its funny my laptop runs at 73* when its 100% lol

nah you can keep going a little further maybe 50-55 at 100% because it'll never get to that in a real world scenario :)

I'd try to stay below 70c. How far are you going to try and push that poor little wannabe Athlon?

which is 1000 percent fine.

Don't worry about CPU temps until you hit 85 degrees c. For a GPU make that 95 degrees c @Morpheus is just talking out the ass saying 60 c is the limit

This cpu's TJMax is 80* anyway, after all this, ill stop at 50* i think

Both of those links don't explain at all why programs display different temps and which ones display proper temps on a FX CPU, thus any point you make is invalid thus far

i see, so i guess everyone else in the world must be wrong but you. goodnight lol

AMD rates their current line of CPU's for 62 C, any more than that and you will likely be degrading the performance/lifetime of the CPU. I don't see why someone should ever need to go above that for ~.2GHz which will end up with zero extra performance boost. Seriously.

For a 4130 I would try to get something like 4.4ghz or something like that. Keep the temps below 65 celsius in stress tests and it will last a long time. It is on the stock cooler right? If so watch the voltage. The temps will go up pretty fast if you start changing voltage. Try to get it as high as you can without changing voltage and then add a bit of voltage to achieve that last bit. Keeps volts under about 1.5. Good Luck!

Please tell how many AMD CPU's you currently own and how much experience you have overclocking them. Also what programs you use to overclock and read temps with.

don't need to tell you anything. stop talking to me now

Well that escalated quickly...

to the OP just OC until you arent stable anymore because it seems your temperatures are fine and the limiting factor will be stability.

Ohhhhhhh so you have no real evidence to prove any of your shit talk..... Awwwwww how convenient for you.

You haven't postedn anything either. You are starting with the assumption that you are correct and then saying he has to PROVE you wrong (which is entirely the wrong way to conduct this). When he does so you toss out his evidence, and start to claim that he hasn't "owned enough AMD CPU's"? What does that have to do with anything?

Why would I back down on a point that I'm 100 percent correct on?

Again, show something for WHY you are 100 percent correct.

PLEASE, check ANY thread on CPU overclocking, 85 degree's is the agreed upon max temp for a CPU to hit during an overclock

FURTHERMORE, If you check a thread on AMD overclocking you will see that AMD chips are agreed upon to run hotter than Intel chips, which begs the question, if intel's max temp is agree'd upon at 85c then why is AMD set at 60c ?

Then on top of that check any thread on why different CPU temp readout softwares will give you different temps and understand why they do this. Because your readouts will more than likely be the CPU socket temps.... your 62c temps are not only the wrong temp readouts but are also widely inaccurate compared to actual core temp readouts. On top of this, please find me a FX 8350 that runs under 62c using PROPER temp readout softwares at stock clocks and on a stock cooler, if this isn't possible on stock, then how is overclcoking even a thing?

I don't care if 3 million threads say that 85 degrees is the "agreed upon" max temp for a CPU, this isn't a vote, just like we don't vote that gravity is a thing. A CPU will never last forever, as power flows through a transistor, a small amount of irreperable damage is done to it. The more power you push through it, the more damage, this is a VERY simple fact. I'd say perhaps a CPU will run fine at 85 C, but you begin to degrade the processor at a very fast rate.

"FURTHERMORE, If you check a thread on AMD overclocking you will see that AMD chips are agreed upon to run hotter than Intel chips, which begs the question, if intel's max temp is agree'd upon at 85c then why is AMD set at 60c ?"

It doesn't matter if they run hotter, that is more due to the size of the die, but that doesn't ~magically~ mean that you can suddenly run it at a higher temperature without running into problems, that's now hot it works.

I don't even understand your last point, it makes no sense. To overclock an 8350 with the stock cooler would be insane. And what do you propose for getting a core temp readout that is "correct" in your mind? You ask how overclocking could be a thing, but don't consider aftermarket coolers? Also, my friends 8350 ran at ~55 C with the stock cooler at stock settings...

62 C is a good point to stop at (hell even 55 C). Your claim that you'll get a 100% performance improvement between 62 C and 85 C is completely and totally absurd.

hy guys :) I have a question for you! I have fx 4130 and i'd like to use at 4.1 - 4.2 ghz , but i don't know what is the ideal voltage for this setting,  i been using for days at 4.0 ghz at stock voltage, 1.400 V ,my motherboard is msi 760gm p23 fx, 6 gb ddr3 memory 1333, sapphire hd 7870, cooler master hyper 103 ! thX
