I'm planning to buy an ssd for my computer becuase i use a laptop hard drive on mine(i didn't have enough money to buy a desktop one and had this lying around). My question is that if i buy a 120gb ssd how much of it is really usable? because i know that some of the space is already used for important stuff. like how my 640gb hdd only has 596gb of free space when i first got it. I would like to also know how much free space is on a 240gb ssd. thanks

i think he means with windows ect included

its more like if i buy a brand new ssd, how much of it is usable from the start because i noticed that the "marketed" space is not equal to usable space.. like a 2gb flashdrive only having 1.86gb of usable space

Its 120GB of space, which is about 109GiB.

Windows uses GB incorrecty when they mean GiB.
