depends on how much stress you will be putting on it. I use asus and can run fallout 4 on extreme graphics and its totally fine. However the laptop you will be buying won't be able to play extreme graphics you shouldn't have a problem with heating.

Yes. Not terrible when you're gaming. But it's still mediocre. MSI GF is basically a rename of the old GE and it doesn't have great thermals as well.

Where are your from? What's your budget and what are your requirements?

US, I want either a 15.6 or a 17.3 I don't want to spend more than $1,00 for a 15 or $1,200 for a 17. anything with a max q is out of the question like the dell 7577

You can tweak it to match a regular 1060 due to the good cooling in the 7577. Just be aware of any VRM throttling issues.

Consider these options, all with 1060 6GB GPU:

Clevo P650HP6 - promotion in Newegg

Clevo N950KP6 - promotion in Newegg, desktop CPU, may need repaste

Dell 7577 (Max-Q) - needs GPU tuning, may need thermal pads on VRMs, entry level IPS

Lenovo Y720 - may need repaste, entry level IPS

Lenovo Y520 (Max-Q) - needs GPU tuning, entry level IPS

Or wait for more CFL-H options like Dell G3,G5,G7

Undervolting CPU & GPU and repaste are highly recommended for every laptop.

Edit: For $1299 you can get a P650HS (Powerspec 1510) with 1070 GPU from Microcenter

Mediocre thermals. Not recommended.

Don’t want the dell 7577 because it’s a 15”. But I want a big name 17” like asus, msi, Acer or something like that. I plan on undervolting and doing new thermal paste on whatever I get.

Brand is less relevant in laptops. In fact the 'big names' don't manufacture their own laptops, this is done by ODMs like Pegatron, Compal, Quanta and also, Clevo. If you want a good 17 inch gaming laptop then you might want to bump up your budget. Or wait for CFL-H options like Dell G3,G5,G7
