Nexus 5X Bootlooped and now it's working?!

Hello,

 

Recently I was on Facebook messenger and my phone restarted and went back to the home screen. Next, when I tried to open messenger again it just froze and restarted a couple of times

(never successfully going back to that same "normal" screen) and now it restarted once more and it's working?

 

I think this may not be a simple question but... Is my phone going to die soon? Am I fine for like a couple of months?

What can I do (besides contacting LG or the store I bought the Nexus from) to fix my problem if it does ever happen again? And most importantly: What should I do next? Should I keep using my phone like

nothing happened?

@Crunchy Dragon It's only been a couple of minutes since it happened and the phone seems to be working fine but I'm afraid...

You could contact LG and ask if there's something it could have done to damage your phone.

you are overreacting if you ask me, I own a LG G4, I already got my bootlooped motherboard replaced when I was out of warranty AND my bootloader was unlocked, LG seems to honor their warranty pretty well in EU.

@Levent And besides contacting LG what can I do? I'm definitely contacting LG or my store if it happens again but I want to try to do something before bothering them. And yes, I am overreacting.

not much really, I suggest not doing anything right at this moment but if your phone bootloops in the future and you want to avoid RMAing the phone (for some reason) that "fix" listed there disables BIG cores and that usually fixes the bootloop with a noticeable performance hit.

I am not quite sure but I believe as long as you have "enable bootloader unlock" setting in developer options and you are able to boot to bootloader you can unlock it even when it bootloops and unable to start.

If you haven't already had it fixed for this issue before, I would expect it to start bootlooping again soon. When mine encountered that issue, once in a while it would manage to successfully boot up and I'd be able to use it again for a while (sometimes a few minutes, sometimes a few hours or a day), but it would start happening more and more frequently until I sent it in to LG to be repaired.

Would definitely watch out and if it happens again contact LG. Nothing you can do about it but it could just be a one time thing.

I put the phone in the freezer for like 5 minutes and it's working now. I honestly don't know what to do at this point.

If it is still covered by warranty, you can get it repaired/replaced accordingly. If not... time to look at another phone. I also have a 5X but in my case I replaced it as a precaution before there were any problems. In the end I got a Xiaomi Mi A1, which is affordable, stock Android and performing nicely apart from the camera, which is about the only part noticeably worse than the 5X.
