Hi guys, so I have a pair of m50x that I use on my pc, but when I plug them directly into my pc they make a static sound, so I figured out a way to plug them in through my Logitech speakers which made them sound better. This is only a temporary solution, so would u guys recommend a sound card or and Audio DAC for this situation?

It sounds like you have an interference issue with the wiring in your computer. There are a few ways to do this (going from cheapest to more expensive)

1) You can either try rerouting the cables within your PC to limit interference with the cables that go from your headphone jack to the Mobo.

2) You can pick up one of these https://www.amazon.com/Mpow-Ground-Isolator-Stereo-System/dp/B019393MV2 and plug it into your headphone jack then plug your headphones in.

3) You can pick up an entry level DAC/amp that will most likely rid yourself of the issue as well as possibly enhance your audio. I would suggest the Schiit Fulla 2 given its $99 price tag, good looks, and line out that you connect your existing powered speakers to.

Feel free to ask questions if you have any!

I would get better headphones before I got a DAC or Amp. M50Xs are awful.

That may be, but they shouldn't make static.  If there's something wrong with the overall setup, that would affect any headphones so it still needs to be fixed.

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

Yes I know. But he said they were fine when playing through his speakers, so his issue is fixed. My point was if he were going to spend the money on a DAC/Amp the money would be better spent getting new headphones and then just a cheap USB soundcard to remove noise.

Oh, I guess I interpreted that differently... he said the speakers made them sound "better", and I assumed that was "improved but still bad".
