New Laptop, What to disable/delete?

Hello all,

 

I recently brought a MSI GS43VR with a i7-7700HQ and 16GB ram.

What I noticed is that the Memory is running at around 20-30% occupied when I have nothing open (almost 4GB!). I also noticed that there are a lot of pre-downloaded applications/software that are active on the laptop.

 

Are there any tips on how to free up more space? Perhaps there are some softwares or applications that I could disable/delete?

Use the Windows Reset function to wipe the entire OS and start off clean.

So this will wipe all applications/settings/data from my computer?

My apologies, I'm not exactly sure what it will affect.

Yep, applications settings and data will be reset to Windows defaults, not MSI's defaults. All bloat will vanish.

Disable Windows Superfetch

 

open CMD (administrator)

 

type 

net.exe stop superfetch

it should respond 

The Superfetch service is stopping.
The Superfetch service was stopped successfully.

 

Restart Computer. See ram difference

You can also do it from services

 

  1. win + r
  2. Type 'services.msc'
  3. Scroll down to superfetch (under s)
  4. Double Click
  5. Click disable
  6. Change from automatic start to disabled.
  7. Restart Computer
