Positioning Question

In the PSU tier list, they mention how a certain bearing type knocks them down to tier three because in a horizontal mounting position they fail quicker. I guess I've never seen a PSU mounted vertical, so I'm a bit confused by that. Outside of bearing type, is there any advantage or disadvantage to a vertical mounting of a PSU?

Corsair's Air 240 - vertically mounted PSU.

 

Outside of sleeve-bearings actually lasting longer in this position, no, there are no disadvantages of mounting a PSU vertical.

My In Win 303 case mounts the  PSU vertically  I actually find it helps with having space for airflow and a cleaner look, at least in this case. (ignore the cable mess, i'm working on it)
