hello everyone i have an issue with my old buddy fx 8350

atm i am waiting for the new generation of intels thats why still i need to use this cpu

the problem is i can not even play dota2 or other games like r6 , pubg and the others

i have a gtx 970 with little bit of o.c and 8gig of ram with 1.6ghz clock speed

when i start to game i am getting like 90-120 fps and than its dropping to 30-20 and its basicly uplayable at all

while this things are happening i am checking my cpu heat and the useage of cpu

its getting %100 useage while this drop issue is happening and the cpu diod heat is seems okey ( cpu diode and the mainbord cpu diod's calculations are different, mainbord's diod is more higher ) this is the first main problem i can not even play dota or the other not high hardware games

when i am stressing the cpu it is getting thermal throttling at 50-55 degree

i just changed my thermal paste and i am using corsair h100 at full speed

sorry for my english it is not my native language thanks for help guys

Run Firestrike or cinebench and check what it's doing in CPU-Z as far as clock speed goes

Why wait for the next gen intel stuff? an R5 1600 $160 + ASrock Pro 4 $75 + $80 8GBs DDR4 is already pretty solid.

What MMR?

Make sure your computer isn't in power saving, low power, energy saving, or low-performance mode. Also, how much thermal paste did you use?

it is not on power saving mode i am totally sure and not much not less thermal paste i use

and the tests pictures are here

Well you can always try reinstalling windows to fix any software issues.

But your CPU just dropped like a rock in the 3rd image, would try fresh windows first, then move onto maybe some issue with the motherboard, your VRM could be overheating maybe and it throttles to save itself if the CPU is being properly cooled.

Which motherboard do you have? What's also interesting are the package temps. Usually if it's reading in the teens for this CPU, it won't be accurate. I've read somewhere that the sensor has issues detecting temperature when it's low (for the fx series). Even with the h100 the temps seem very low compared to socket temps (I have no experience with water cooling though).

Try doing a BIOS update even if there's no new update for it. Also, reset BIOS to default configurations.

The 8350s max temp is 65c and the max socket temp (I'm pretty sure) is 72c.

I'd suggest doing an overclock (but not overclocking). As in setting overclock to manual and leaving everything as default. Here's a snippet of what I found:

My 8350's default multiplier is 20.5 but it shouldn't make much of a difference.

A more reliable way might be JayzTwoCents video on overclocking. The only difference you'd make is leaving all of the numbers to what your CPU default is. In order to keep the 4000MHz. Or just attempt an overclock and see how it works..lol. For yours it would have to be a mild overclock though (~4.2GHz about) since your mobo isn't too much of an overclocker.

It seems like it's not temperature, but the CPU is throttling still. I'm afraid it may just be the motherboard no longer being able to sustain 8x loads for extended periods in terms of power delivery.

You may try relaxing every setting for power control in the BIOS, overriding overcurrent protections, etc, but I won't be the one to say it's riskless.

You may also try undervolting while keeping stock speeds. That one is safe, worst case you just fail to boot once, go into BIOS again and increase the voltage.

i did and the results are totally same :(

and for the ryzen suggestion i am totally off from the amd after fx cpu

for other applications it could be but for the games it can not fit my persfective

edit: @SpaceGhostC2C

when i was trying to o.c the cpu there is a different sound coming from the case like an electrical arcs i believe the sound coming from vrms

i think the only way change the cpu

See that doesn't make much sense, because your issue is your motherboard not your CPU, you have an extremely low end motherboard that doesn't even have VRM heatsinks, it was only ever meant for the 4 core CPU if that. Basically it has no right to exist.

You'd have the same issues on any platform if your motherboard was really low end with a power hungry CPU.

https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-M5A97-R2-0-SATA-Motherboard/dp/B008RPZ5SC

Ryzen is easily the best value CPUs right now, 6 cores 12 threads for $175 can't be beat. Better to have the extra threads rather than say a slight fps increase with an i5 8400.

Try dropping your frequency to 3ghz at like 1.2V or lower and see if it will hold that.

Your VRM might just be finally giving out.
