True, still I will opt for a 1440p at 60/75hz monitor. Seems more adequate for my needs/work. For the 1700 you may be right but as the new ones should launch in approx 10 days I might as well wait and see the price fall respectively.

Alright for the update, stepped up on an atx mobo as the micro apparently is fidgety with fan connexions etc. Stepped down to 16gb ram as it would be overkill for now (might upgrade later).

As it stands I will wait for:

First: the launch of zen2 to see the difference in price/performance

Second: the extend of the Gpu price drop (I still feel bad about not starting the build before all this)

Yeah that's why I'm still indecisive between Intel and AMD. The 8600k looked promising as well especially that I would not really experience the increased core count on an everday basis. I'll just wait to see the price/perf ratio after the new announcement and (confirmed) benchmark results

Pricing should be pretty similar to current Ryzen cpu's.

Yeah I will switch to intel nonetheless, even IF games were optimised for more cores (people have been dreaming about this for years now) I wouldn't really care that much. The build @Herman Mcpootis provided is solid and I began ordering the main accessories leaving out the costy bits for random special deals (or even change of heart) in the next 1-2 weeks + the 1080 is coming in close to the 1070 ti pricewise. Gotta love the case tho, sparing me some bucks on esthetics

Those benchmarking sites are usually not a good way to compare hardware. Also why go for a R7 1800X when an R7 1700 will do the same thing ? Plus the refresh Ryzen cpu's are due out this month so do buy anything yet anyway if going for AMD.

It's a measure of how the hardware SHOULD perform, not how it WILL. Ryzen refresh will definitely cost more than Ryzen 1 and I don't think the performance increase will justify the increased price.

Why only a 1tb HDD when you can have a 2TB hybrid? With Intel you're also paying a crap ton more for the motherboard rather than going AMD and buying a good CPU and a good motherboard for cheaper so you don't have to compromise as much on other parts. As a result you've had to downgrade to an SSD that is slower than the 850 EVO 250GB and a HDD that is both smaller in capacity and slower than a hybrid. All because you went intel. Sure the gaming stats are probably better but you gotta think about storage speed and capacity too, they are VERY important factors for gaming no matter how basic or stupid you might think it sounds.

the MX500 is about the same in performance to the 850 evo while being cheaper and having a higher rated endurance. a hybrid isn't much faster than a regular HDD until the programs get cached, which isn't much with a measly 8gb cache.

It's a measure of how the hardware SHOULD perform, not how it WILL. Ryzen refresh will definitely cost more than Ryzen 1 and I don't think the performance increase will justify the increased price.

Much better to look at an actual review of the cpu to see how it performs in gaming against other cpu's than some generic benchmark website.

As for the price then sure it will cost more than current Ryzen but it isn't going to be a huge amount more. The newer chips can hopefully overclock past 4GHz as well if rumours are correct. With the release date so close it makes sense to hang on for a week or so.

If a gpu makes more fps than your monitors hertz, it isnt bottlenecking. It just shows 60 fps max.

that is literally the definition of a bottleneck. One part not allowing another to reach its full potential. The 1070 is outputting 100 fps but the monitor is only showing 60 fps.

i5-8600k, MSI Z370-A Pro, 2x 8GB DDR4-3k, MSI Gaming X 1060, NZXT S340, 2TB HDD, 750w Corsair PSU, AOC 2775 OC'd to 80Hz and CFG73 at 144hz
