what kind of diagnostics tools and tests i should use

i'v pulled out all the drives after backing up the data so i can basically do anything with them

Can you specify what its actually doing to your RAID array?
i have them in a RAIDZ ( something like Raid 5 ) on my freenas server.

i keep getting errors for the array but it doesn't show which drive is failing.
