Hello all,

I just built my new PC and I am having issues installing Windows 7, my specs are as follows:

  • AMD Ryzen 5 1600
  • Zotac GTX 1080 Mini
  • ASRock AB350 Gaming ITX/ac motherboard
  • 512GB NvMe SSD

I'm attempting to install windows off a flash drive I prepared the other day, and it's booting into the installation just fine.

The issue is that the keyboard and mouse stop working as soon as I get into the Windows 7 installation, they work fine in the BIOS. My keyboard and mouse are both plugged into USB 2.0 sockets.

Thank you

WIndows 7 isn't compatble with that system, run windows 10, its faster and more secure.

I have Windows 10 on my old HDD but my case is too small, and I don't have the .ISO file for it, I do have a copy of Windows 7 and a Windows 10 upgrade available once I have installed windows 7

Just download a windows 10 iso then. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10ISO

If you prefer windows 7 you can still use it with custom drivers, it is compatible it's an artificial blockade

This is a known issue. You'll need to slipstream the USB 3.0 (yes, 3.0) drivers into the win7ISO and try again.

It can be done.

Have you seen all the cve's for windows 7? Windows 10 is running on a newer bettter kernel and a good amount better under the hood. It really is a security improvement. Security != privacy.

And every system MS puts out is "better" than the last one, until some 0day gets them hacked.

Thanks, the privacy issues alone make Win10 a non-starter for many people, including me, and anyone who values this sort of thing.

They all have security holes, its just that windows 7 has more of them than windows 10. Windows 10 is a lot better under the hood. Many don't like what they have done with the gui(including me), but underneath is a much better os.
