QVL list simply contains a list of memory modules Gigabyte had on hand and tested the motherboard with when they released the motherboard and maybe by testing sticks over the course of a few months after the motherboard release (usually as they post new bios updates that improve memory compatibility and so on).

After some time, they won't update that list as often (or at all), so if a manufacturer released a memory stick after that QVL was published, it won't be there, even though it may work perfectly with that motherboard.

So you shouldn't avoid some memory sticks just because they're not on the QVL list, but do check reviews and see if users report issues with that series on AM4 motherboards, some series work better with Intel systems, some are more optimized for AMD systems.
