Com Surrogate is using 20% of my CPU, and alot of my icons are disappearing. also whenever i open this specific folder, my media folder, and click, right click, drag, or anything with any file or folder in there, that Windows Explorer window crashes
Running Win 10, 16GB of Ram Ryzen 5 1600X, 480 GB SATA 3 SSD, and a 1TB Sata 2 HDD (no problems)
Also it takes forever to get close to completing the "catalog" of that folder, on my SSD/Boot Drive, even tho it is like 16gb, but it never actually completes

  1. Do a full virus/malware scan, possibly with two different programs.

  2. Open command prompt (with admin rights) and enter sfc /scannow to see if it can find and repair any damaged system files.

  3. You could also try a system restore to a point in time where it wasn't happening, if you have them turned on.

  4. Failing all that, Windows 10 offers multiple degrees of inbuilt reinstallation these days, for that near guaranteed fix. Can be a hassle backing up your data and programs though.

If you want good hardware recommendations, please tell us how you intend to use the hardware. There's rarely a single correct answer.
