which geforce is recommended for under 260?

josh42666
Go to solution Solved by Ensho,

so your suggesting the msi twin forzr 760, am i right?

I have two of them in SLI.  Yes, I think if you go with the 760...the MSI TF Gaming is the best choice personally.  Overclocks well and is inaudible in windows and near silent under heavy load with good cooling performance.  The Asus one is good, but that power plate on the back gets really hot which may make your cpu get hotter than usual under load.  Depends on case air flow, but if you look at that link I gave you...I think you will agree MSI got it right with the TF Gaming 760.

Ewww.

Anyway, whichever psu you should get depends on the gpu and not the other way around.

yeah i know what you mean not even good but it's been good for me at the moment and what you by the psu and gpu?

i also love modular cables

You're supposed to choose your psu according to the graphics card and not decide on a 750w and the graphics card afterwards.

Even if you're doing sli or crossfire, what psu you need will depend on what gpus you're running. Something like a 760 sli will run off of a good 650w just fine.

No. It just depends on the graphics cards and how much power they draw. Benchmarks have been done so we know roughly how much power a system will need.

Clock speed is just one spec out of many that matter.

Well for one, the OP is using pounds, not dollars.

Not that I'd recommend it anyway..

The 760 supports 4K too, but like the 270X...you aren't going to want to game at that resolution unless you like 15-20 fps  :o

that hawk is a good one seems right

Not worth the extra money over the cheaper Asus or Evga 760 imo. It's not that much more money but it's not that much more performance either.

or just go back to msi with the twin forzr 760 :http://www.dabs.com/products/msi-geforce-gtx-760-1085mhz-2gb-pci-e-3-0-hdmi-gaming-twinfrozr-oc-8SWV.html?refs=50050-4294963789-4294944469-57430000&src=3

The Hawk will be able to get to near 770 levels at 1300/7000 which is almost guaranteed with it which is an advantage of it over the regular 760s as long as the psu can deliver stable volts.

The MSI and Asus one are the quietest, but the difference is the Asus one with that power plate on the back gets really hot, really quick.

If you can afford the 760, I'd go for it.  It is faster and your minimum frame rates are going to be higher which will give you a better overall gaming experience.  The R9 270 is a good card though.  Really up to you.

Mantle support or getting a nicer GSync monitor when they get start hitting the market with multi-monitor options to chose from.

The Msi one is quieter. The Gigabyte one cools a bit better and isn't as quiet.

Both are great coolers and you should just pick the cheaper one or whichever looks better.
