Help me to understand something, why do manufacturers make large screens with low ress? Like this new MSI monitor for example: https://www.msi.com/Monitor/Optix-MAG27C/Specification

At 27" 1080p is just blurry and you'd prefer 1440p right? Is it because of the low resolution these monitors are capable of being 144hz 1ms?

I have a 27" 1080p monitor. It isn't that blurry but it is also not very clear. I would definitely buy a higher resolution monitor at this size.

I think they make them because some people want a large monitor but don't want to pay too much and might be willing to sacrifice resolution for better response time and refresh rate, better colors etc... but yeah they aren't very clear. I can see the pixels on mine very easily from over 4 feet away.

PC:

AMD Ryzen 9 5900X | AMD Radeon RX 7900 GRE | 32 GB RAM | Arch Linux

Laptop:

MacBook Pro 13" (2019) | Intel Core i5 8279U | 8 GB RAM | macOS

Server:

Intel Core i7 6700K | 16 GB RAM | 2 TB HDD | Debian Linux

Cheap options will always have buyers no matter how many so while you might find 27" 1080p blurry there's always gonna be someone who doesn't care but like big screens

Larger structures could be required to guarantee 144 Hz with VA panel. Or maybe they need the bigger horizontal space on the back of the panel for all the chips which convert data to columns and lines etc maybe the chips capable of 144 updates require more space.

I sincerely doubt it, but one option could be that they're panels cut from bigger 4K panels with some flaws like dead pixels (so recovered panels)

Or they could be panels made on the same process as the VA panels they make for 42"-60" TVs  .. so they make 4 x 27" panels from a single larger 50-60" panel that would normally go in TVs .... you know, volume production makes it cheaper and all that.

There's often such compromises that may not seem obvious to you, or may seem strange choices.
