AMD Software uninstaller frozen

Go to solution Solved by Arjuncsk,

Some drivers roll back changes if cancelled. It looks like the uninstaller got Frozen or the system is searching extensively for a lost file either way a clean install of drivers is recommended and although I never used ddu it looks safe and well documented.

Good luck

The uninstaller for AMD Software has not made any progress for over an hour. The progress bar has been on the same pixel the whole time. The uninstaller is not completely frozen, I can still interact with it and windows still works. Does anyone know what could be causing this and what I should do about it? Should I keep waiting or click the cancel button? Will canceling it mess up my computer/drivers?

So a while ago (I procrastinated on fixing it) I was updating AMD display drivers through Radeon settings when my internet died and computer shut off. I couldnt really use them after that. I have a MSI RX 480 8GB, the drivers were on I think 18.3.1 or something. I downloaded the new ones then ran the uninstaller from control panel in safe mode. Im on Windows 10 64bit and its up to date. If you need any other info I'll try and give it. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Is it safe to cancel the Uninstall process? Do you have any ideas for possible causes? Also would you reccomend using DDU for this?

I clicked Stop Uninstallation and now it says Please wait while the current package uninstallation is finishing up, but it shows no signs of actually doing anything. What would you say I should do here? The program is still scrolling ads and everything but it doesn't seem like it will properly cancel it. Oh and thanks for the help so far.

Ok then the only way out is ending the uninstall process from task manager and cleaning out the files manually

This might help if not try using one of those uninstallers I suggested above then do a clean install with latest driver after a restart.
