You should perhaps be asking this before rather than after placing an order to avoid a potential case of buyer's remorse wherein you regret your decision.

That said, provide a link to the product and define what you mean by "modern game" and on what settings, and what you qualify as "decent fps" and are looking for in a laptop to assign "worth"- do you value weight, aesthetics, connectivity, performance, storage, etc.? And since you've already bought it, are you hoping for the community to validate your purchase or critique it?

Will it play esports at 1080p 60fps? Probably. Is it worth that price? Ehhhh... maybe not, especially for gaming. You can get something with a GTX 1050 (which will annihilate that RX 530 in every single scenario) for less than $1000 US, which is around what you paid for that if you convert the currencies. If you were to buy said laptop with a GTX 1050 with, say, an i7-7700HQ or whatever the 8th gen equivalent is and 16gb of RAM, it would cost you probably $1300, maybe as much as $1500, but you'd still be getting a much better price-to-performance in terms of gaming.

EDIT: You already ordered it? Dang dude. It's a little late to be wondering if it was a good idea, isn't it?

Everything I know I learned from the internet. Also school.

Current Desktop:

PSU: 650W EVGA SuperNova

Storage: 120gb SK Hynix SSD, 240gb SanDisk SSD Plus, 1 TB 2015 WD Blue

Case: Corsair Carbide 100R

Peripherals: Logitech G Pro keyboard, Razer DeathAdder Elite, Logitech G305, Logitech G600, 24" AOC FreeSync 1080p monitor x2

He's in australia, so import fees are like... another 20% on top of the retail price. A 1050 Ti notebook will run him around $1400.

@ThugSheep

Look for a second hand/used Inspiron 7559 on Ebay and see if they do international shipping. Same machine I have and it's glorious. :D It's also leagues faster than that machine you're looking at, so you shouldn't have any issues. :)

I didn't mean a 1050ti... I just said 1050. Still cost the same? Either way, I don't really know Australia's market values. I assumed they were roughly equivalent. Sorry!

OKish build quality, outdated ports, mediocre battery life, entry level display, no SSD, outdated GPU. Look at reviews first before buying. Dell Inspiron 5000 series is overpriced and not worth it IMO.

The 5577 wants a word with you. :P https://www.amazon.com/Dell-Inspiron-Gaming-Laptop-i5577-5335BLK-PUS/dp/B06XFGDD8P

(Granted it's in the United States... but the point remains. Same chassis as my laptop just updated CPU and GPU. :3)

Inspiron 5000 and Inspiron 5000 Gaming are different. 5577 has decent value, but it has weaknesses as well like poor display, mediocre battery life and OKish input devices. However cooling and build quality are decent so I can recommend it.

What part of the 5577 has mediocre battery life? It has the same battery life, if not better, than my 7559. :P 74Wh plus KabyLake... plus Optimus... and TDP tweaking in Windows Power Management means well in order of 8 Hours easy. I know because mine gets a solid 7 hours.

And you can buy a better display like pretty much everyone does. The upgraded LG panel I have cost me $40 shipped. :P Pinching pennies isn't really hard when everything already costs pennies to begin with. xD

No idea despite the large capacity battery. Look at reviews, battery life worse than 7567 for no reason. Maybe due to poor energy management.

Not everyone wants to change the panel due to warranty concerns.

1. Dell never checks for tampering as far as I have seen.

2. The reviews that I tend to see are people using it in an odd and unrealistic scenario. it's like notebookcheck's Prime95 and Furmark stress test. NOTHING will ever come close to stressing that test, even when the system is pushed to 100% in a game or application. Prime forces the CPU to pull more power than it is typically rated for and the same goes for Furmark and the GPU. My old laptop had a 460M and it hit 85*C in Furmark. In any other game when it was under max load, it never broke 75*C.
