If you don't have peripherals that support Mystic Light and don't want to share the RGB goodness with other MSI systems, there is no need to get the latter two software.

so I recently finished building my pc and I wanted to change the lighting but I'm not sure what to download. I have an MSI motherboard but my graphics card says it will work with aura sync. can I even change it?

You need MSI Mystic Light for your motherboard and Asus Aura to change the lighting on your GPU.

Mystic light is only for (supported) MSI motherboard and GPU's, Sync is for 3rd party accessories that support MSI Mystic Light and The Party one is so you can sync lights across multiple PC's,
