Samsung Galaxy Note 8 charging port blocked

Long story short my phone was charging, then after putting my phone in my pocket, and going to help my girlfriend feed her cats, the charger port is blocked. It remained in my pocket and I've already tried checking if it's full of lint or something inside blocking it, and comparing it with her's, they both look identical. Not too sure what to do.

 

The bigger problem is that I'm from Australia, currently overseas in USA visiting her, so I can't take my phone to my provider and get them to check it out. 

 

Anyone have any ideas on what I could do?
