Hey guys so I currently have the following components for my PC.

Asus TUF B550

AMD 5800x

EVGA RTX 3070TI FTW3 ULTRA

Ripjaws 32 GB DDR4 3200 MHz

EVGA 850 W Supernova (Gold)

Noctua NH-U14S

Samsung 980 M.2 Pro 1 TB NVME

Samsung 860 V-Hand 1 TB SSD

Phantek Full Tower Case

I’m looking to upgrade and my main focus has been to upgrade my CPU as I think this would be the best place to start. Does anyone have any recommendations? If anyone has any other suggesting would be cool also! Thanks!

What is the budget?

Why do you say that? The 5800X is still a pretty good gaming chip and the 3070 Ti is (relatively speaking) not that fast of a GPU, so it's not too likely you'd notice much of a difference. Is there some particular game you play that you're pretty sure is CPU bound? In other words, what about your system is not doing what you want it to?

RTx 4070 on amazon is cheaper, more vram(4gb more) and has better performance.  Keep in mind you cannot upgrade your cpu, ram or motherboard up a generation down the line...

i think he already has those parts

CPU don’t want to spend anything over $300 US. And I’ve been having trouble running my two monitors. I try to record as I play COD and it drops my FPS and sometimes screen tears. I have a Samsung G7 as my main monitor and a asus 4K as my second.

Can easily drive 3090 class cards fully.

Really? I started doing some research and ran into some articles saying the 5800x was a “budget” CPU. I say $300 for my CPU budget but in reality if I really want it ima just get it haha. I just want to run both my monitors smooth

I kind of wanted to keep my 3070ti since I know EVGA isn’t making them anymore. But if it’s really that much higher in performance I would swap it.

I get the sentiment but, just being entirely straight, you probably wont notice a performance uplift worth any money by upgrading anything other than your GPU

How are you recording gameplay?

I hope you are using obs and the nvidia encoder NOT cpu encode because like even top spec stuff will have a decent performance drop.

Just because a cpu is budget doesnt mean its bad.

Legit a 7800x3d is THE BEST gaming cpu out there and it is seen as a pretty budget friendly option.

The 5800x3d was THE BEST gaming cpu for a bit and costed a lot less than intels top offering.

A 5800x was a top spec gaming cpu 2 years ago basically and today still and easy top 10.

It should not struggle to game at all

Hi yes I run through OBS and encode through my GPU. I only notice the lag when I run both of my monitors if I turn one off it runs much smoother. And true I see your point with the budget opinions!

Thank you I appreciate the honesty! I was just going to wait until the next gen GPUs as I’ve read really all 40 series gpu are pretty close to the 30 series

Could you potentially put textures at the lowest settings and try again?

Could just be you ran outta vram

Theyre actually a decent enough leap ahead but you could also save up some bucks and go for the next gen, they will be about half a year before they come out and will probably end up with the usual 5090 working downwards so might be longer before one in your budget range becomes available
