PLGA775 cpu in an LGA775 socket

Quick question. I have an old Dell computer that currently has an LGA775 Core 2 duo E8400 inside and I just pulled an Xeon 3065 out of an old R200 server. Is there a difference in this socket? Will it work?

 

(Yes I know the Xeon is worse than the 2 Duo, but I wanna test if the CPU still works)

CPU: AMD 3800X GPU: GTX 1080 Ti RAM: (16GB) 2x Corsair 8gb DDR4 3200Mhz Drives: SanDisk 240GB SSD, Samsung 500GB SSD, WD 1TB HDD

Motherboard: MSI X470 Gaming pro plus PSU: Gigabyte 650 watt Monitor(s): 27 inch AOC 1440p

The guy in that forum post was trying to put a 45nm Core2 chip in a board that only supports 65nm, that's why it didnt work for him. Since the E8400 is already 45nm, any 45 or 65nm chip (such as this Xeon) should work in his board.

They are compatible since the E8400's FSB is the same as the Xeon's. PLGA is simply a different way used to mount the CPU die to the CPU board with the copper contact pads to LGA, the pads still connect to the same points on the CPU.
