Best beginner friendly software for 2D animation

I am looking for a software that can be used for 2d animation. My main goal is to create videos. I know animations can be done using paint and even powerpoint... I am looking for something professional with a learning curve but also a bit beginner friendly. So far I have Adobe After Effects that I never use... just got it with all apps subscription since I use premiere pro, audition, photoshop, and illustrator. 

So If someone here has an experience in animation, if you could give a suggestion or your view on different apps it would be great!

There are quite a few options. Like Adobe's Flash and Animate (Animate being the successor to Flash, but last time I checked it was quite unstable though). There are also options like Toonboom Harmony (also a paid program, more for the professional that makes his money from it).

There are also free, but less extensive programs like Pencil2D. Or the about 2 years ago made open source program (and it was closed sourced for years prior, so a quite full featured program) OpenToonz, which is used by Studio Ghibli.

 

it just kinda depends on what feature set you're looking for.
