$400 Gift Build

Newbix_Cube

 Hello!

This is for a friend that I've known for several years and he's a part of a group of friends that I play with daily.

The only thing is his 2004 HP Pavilion Desktop he was gifted a while back does not cut it in the slightest for gaming.

Everyone has upgrade this Christmas to  a more gaming fashioned computer, except for him. I have a bit of money left over

and would like to gift this. I know $400 isn't much but I think it'll be great upgrade! Trying to keep it under $400 including shipping

and taxes. He got a Radeon HD 5450 for Christmas last year so I'd like to build around that GPU. A plus for him is he uses

a 1024x768 resolution monitor so performance is naturally boosted.

If you can give opinions on this build I'd but much appreciated.

Also if you'd like to suggest your own build could you give a rough idea about performance for current game titles.

Its still a terrible card, and will perform just a frame or so better than integrated. He can sell it, and then use that money to put to a 7750/7770/7790/7850/260X/650Ti Boost.

How's he suppose to sell a $20 card?

7770 wouldn't fit the budget.

With his shitty computer as it is he runs Skyrim with about 30 mods,

medium setting, and about 20-40 fps. If you see the resolution of his

monitor it's really small and requires less performance. Unless you

can fit the 7770 in the build to fit the budget. Then I'd probably keep

the 5450.

As for my own build I got really luck on Black Friday/Cyber Monday and I got it all for $460. I can max out most games at 1440x900 (the resolution of my terrible monitor) with my 7870 GHz

That doesn't fit the budget.

I said "$400 including shipping and taxes."

Your build doesn't including taxes or shipping which comes out in the end

to about $50 - $75.

Go add it all up.

It'll go way past that.

I just order a build I made on pcpartpicker and it said $1200, ended up being $1400.

I don't trust pcpartpicker's taxing/shipping.

Looks good for me. Keep these components.

As of the GPU the others were talking about.. hmm if you really want I know that 7750 is a lot cheaper than 7770, at least in my country. But in my opinion for that resolution the 5450 will be good.. My ATi HD4670 works admirably at 1080p xD. And I play basically all new games that come out.

Well BF4 seems to be past this limit(or it might be the RAM) but anyways you get the idea :).

Oh then I didn't try enough to make it work xD.

But I don't really care BF3 doesn't work well on medium so I don't play it though I have it on Origin xD. Call of duty games always worked better even maxed out, but I guess that's because they don't improve much xD.
