This is a comparison on each mic for speaking and vocals.  These are two very popular entry-level microphones, one dynamic and one condenser.  It was 5AM; forgive all imperfections (lol)

Maybe this will be helpful to people who are thinking about buying either of these mics.

Shure SM57 is a legend when it comes to micing cabinets, but I think it would make more sense to get SM58 for vocals, no?

If you are on budget, t.Bone MB85 Beta (from Thomann) is a great option too.

It's entry level for the budget but it does exceptionally well for that price.

Yeah, the 57 is an instrument mic. the 58 is effectively identical but has a foam wind filter to help with plosives.

I use SM57 with wind screen.  While used as an instrument mic, it's also the mic every president since the 1960's used.  The SM58 is extremely similar to the 57, except I prefer the wind screen over the grill personally.  To take two near-identical products and say one is for voice and the other is for instrument is kind of arbitrary.  It's like saying mens shampoo is for men and womens shampoo is for women; no they're not; they do the exact same thing; yall just took the marketing to heart..
