Do these two cpus have a huge difference? And I want to make clear that I’m talking about stock 4790k even though I know you should oc

also the focus is gaming along with some streaming and basic homework

most played games would be fortnite, pub g, destiny 2 and Planetside 2

Edit:

Sorry, you were talking about the i7-4770. Same as the i7-4770K but locked multiplier, and runs at 3.4 GHz stock.

Stock versus stock, then go for the i7-4790K.

i7-4770K is 'Haswell' while the i7-4790K is the revised version, 'Devil's Canyon.'

There are improvements between the two, abit small, but one of the more considerable change was the improvements in temperature.

The i7-4790K is also clocked higher (4.0 GHz vs 3.5 GHz from the factory) while maintaining similar TDP (84W vs 88W).

4790K is slightly better architecture, and has higher base and boost speeds than the 4770. And as mentioned by you, it's overclockable so you can definitely get higher performance out of it.

IIRC, the performance difference between the 4790K and 4770K isn't more than ~10%.

Why are you asking?

Are you looking at 2 used systems? If so what budget/country? Do you already have a GPU?

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?
