Router Issues

NoLoMo

So for about a month now I have been having issues with my 5GHz band. It will be working at times then the video/page stops loading, and on the bad days the connection just times out. My 2.4 GHz band works perfectly fine so I am not sure whether this is a router thing or ISP thing. I am using a TP-Link AC1750 router and my internet provider is Spectrum with what should 100 mbps down and 10 up. Yes I have rebooted the router and no firmware updates are available at this moment.

You could clear settings (factory reset) if you haven't done so already.

What sort of speeds do you actually get from that 100/10 connection?

Also when you get timeouts, how far are you away from the access point? you could be right on the fringe which could be why you are dropping the connection. 2.4Ghz has better range and that's probably why you don't experience the same problems on that band.

That is normally what I am getting, meaning when it does work. When the signal drops I’m not terribly far rather I’m close by, probably like 20 feet away from the router. Though it has failed much closer to that as well.

Hmm, what device are you using? does it only do it on that device, or on others also?

Hmm, and on 2.4Ghz it's OK and never does this?  if so, then I'd be looking at changing the 5Ghz channel to see if there's interference.. I did however have an issue a little while ago where my router's wifi would crap out for no apparent reason, it would take out the other APs too. I ended up having to disable the router's wifi completely and just using my APs instead, and it's fine again now with no crap-outs.

Yea the 2.4 GHz is fine, but from the given speed I get about half of the tested speed.
