Hi,

I was planning to build a mining rig, but seen the graphics cards' price on amazon I pretty much abandoned my idea.

Each GPU I tried turned out to reach ROI after one year, which is too long.

Is there any advice that you can give me? Can I find GPU at a reasonable price somewhere?

Not really worth it now, the 1050ti is the most efficient card. Best price for performance.

1050ti ?? If you mean for 1080p gaming at medium settings... you'll need lots of 1080 (ti's) to make a profit

For mining, a 1050ti actually has the best price for performance. It’s still pretty bad for mining, and not recommended, but because mining has brought the gpu price up so much, it’s one of the only profitable cards (but not by much) It’s getting to the point where power prices outweigh the money made for bitcoin.

You might be able to find something used in your area that might still be worth it. The best I've found recently is ~10 month ROI.

The ROI is only ten months if you sell as you mine. For example ethereum is right now at 500 $, meaning that a 1070 will bring in about 30 dollars a month, but 0,06 ethereum if you dont sell. IF ethereum reaches 2k this summer, then the 0.06 eth you mined is now worth 4 times as much, meaning you got 120 dollars for each month of mining, not 30.

At the moment, my 1060 6GB is mining about a euro a day on nicehash. That's indeed a 10-11 months ROI (I bought it for 325).  Will it make that? Probably not, because the amount it can mine has been plummeting for a while now. Last year, I could run it at 6-7 (November), then it went down to about  2-3 (January) and has been decreasing to the current ~1 /day.

I bought it for gaming, so that's okay.

As everyone has stated, GPU mining is almost dead considering the increased difficulty and the fact that bitmain is releasing an ASIC that can mine altcoins including ethereum.. yes its not that asic resistant as they wanted it to be ;) ... long live gaming prices again

It’s only bad getting into right now. So not a good time for it but when it recovers again it would be decent for some cards again.

Can you find cards for decent prices? Sure, but you have to shop around a lot and have a fair amount of patience. You'll probably have your best luck on the used market, since not everyone is a scalper.

Can you find a decently priced card for... f... For mining?
... I am filled with so much disappointment.

Probably not, unless you buy the mining-specific cards.

same here. I bought it for gaming and I mine when I'm sleeping or at work. I see it as a little extra money every month that I can spend on bullshit that I don't need.
