Hello there!

I seem to have in to a few issues with upgrading my pre-built. I started off with just buying a simple DDR4 stick. I check that it's a DIMM-288 that would fit in every motherboard on desktop computers. I have also seen it being used in builds on youtube. I buy it. When it eventually arrives, and i plug it in. I find out that for some reason, my motherboard won't accept non-ECC RAM modules. I tried plugging it in on it's own, yet no boot. I figured my motherboard was some weird ass shit, that you won't even find knockoffs of, so i send it back and got the money for it. So i have decided to buy a new mobo. Haven't bought it yet, but i am planning to do so. Since whoever came up with the idea of putting in an i5-7400 and a GTX 1070 in the same build, i have also been in need of an i7. So eventually i have made an upgrade kit. Im going to buy an i7-7700K, an MSI Z270 Tomahawk (In red with LEDs), a Ballistix Sport LT DDR4 16 GB 2666 MHz (2x8 GB), and a Phanteks Eclipse P400 (The first P400's). I need the case, since my current computer case looks extremely weird, and i really don't know if it follow motherboard sizes. Im going to get a CPU cooler from my friend who got it for free, and i'll salvage my 2 1 TB harddrives, and the PSU from my current computer. I can see that the PSU does fit in the P400. Now my question is: Can all of this work?

I kind of need an answer fast since there's a sale on and it stops tomorrow.

What model is the PSU?

Is it some no-name brand that came with a prebuilt?

Why a 7700K and Z270 board? If you're going new look at the 8600K and Z370 board instead.

What location/country?

most standard motherboards will not accept ECC ram.

sell off the i5 and get a ryzen 1600 or i5 8400 instead, 7700k isn't worth it.
