My display keeps losing signal

I recently build my desktop for the first time and been using it for about a month so far. Just today i found an issue where if i play a game, i would get a black screen as soon as the game loads me in. My monitor says it lost connection and it switches between hdmi, dvi and dp in until i eventually just blacks out. I can still hear the game in the background but i can't switch tabs or shut it off properly. I updated the drivers and that didn't help. I went to device manager and i had my gpu with an error code 56 i think i dont remember what code it was. But when i rebooted my pc i stopped getting the error. I then discovered that my cpu cooler wasn't spinning so i switched it to intel's stock cooler because i didn't have any other cooler to swap it for. It worked for a bit and i was able to go into a game for a while but eventually it occurred again. Don't really know what to do atm plz help.
