I was given an Hp 3000mt with a core 2 duo e8400, and I have a core 2 quad 9300, when I checked the product support it don’t mention the q9300 being supported and I can’t get another cpu since this is the only cpu left, are there any way I can make it work in the pc? Or it just won’t work?

Depends on chipset and BIOS. You might be able to get a BIOS flash that will support the Q9300.

The motherboard can physically use the Q9300 because it shares the same 1333MHz FSB as the E8400. However the BIOS in prebuilts like this can prevent the CPU from being used.

Are there any custom bios or something that can make it work?

@Crunchy Dragon

Maybe, although your motherboard support page should have a list of BIOS updates you can download.

but the important thing is that the product don't have support for the q9300, which means the bios updates might not have the microcodes for the cpu itself @Crunchy Dragon

It might not list support for it, but that doesn't mean a BIOS update won't work. They're both LGA 775 CPUs, most of the time if a CPU uses the same socket, it just takes a BIOS update to use it.
