Right now I'm planning my new build. I just got in my NCase M1 v5. It's a small case and I'm taking it slow buying components one at a time to make sure they can fit. I now need a PSU for it. It's going to be powering a next gen CPU (Ryzen 27** or 9th Gen i7), a GTX 970 because that's what I have and I'm not buying a new GPU in this market, and a single SSD probably M2. No optical drive or spinning HDD or pretty much anything else.

What SFX PSU is good for around or less than $100? Is 450w enough?

Probably just go for that Silverstone 600W model

Or just get an ITX case that supports ATX PSUs and solid CPU cooling like the Core 500

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

It defeats the purpose of getting a smaller case if you just get a bigger case. Besides I already have the M1.

The Core 500 is still pretty compact, but I suppose it's not worth returning that case or something.

The Core 500 is like 65% larger than the M1.  That's pretty significant.

I'd go with the Corsair sf450.  It will be plenty powerful enough for a 970 and and Ryzen 2/9th Gen i7 and reviews actually tend to favor it over the sf600 most of the time (quieter).  I actually just ordered an sf450 myself after reading a ton of reviews (hardocp, jonnyguru, and kitguru all had great reviews).  It's quiet, has an excellent 12v rail, seven year warranty, and has a max output that's a bit over 500w.

I love Silverstone (I'll be using an Argon aR06 in that same build I mentioned) but there hasn't been much of a reason to purchase an sfx power supply from them since Corsair released their sf line.  The Corsair's are more efficient, have better build quality, have a better warranty, have better cables, are competitively priced, and (in my opinion) look better.

Even with overclocking? I intend to OC the CPU (not the GPU) as far as it will go on an air cooler.
