Some questions

Go to solution Solved by rhyseyness,

I've tried Putting a cooler master laptop cooler under it and also over it. This not helps very much, but up to a context, it helps.

Fair enough. Well any router/modem you can buy should be fine.

I've never heard of any overheating issues on routers/modems.

Buy one that suits your needs, you shouldn't have a problem.

Hope this helps! :)

But mine does. My d-link 2730u overheats even just at a minute of usage.

How do you know it's overheating?

When it overheats,it just stops working. And, i keep it checking at every 5 minutes.I just keep it on When i want to use it.

I doubt it's the heat that's causing it to stop working.

What makes you think that the heating is the issue and not something else?

And stops working in what way?

My internet disconnects. And, i've also called a man from D-link. He himself told that my router gets overheated and i will have to get a replacement for it. But then, till today, no one came from the company. Come on guys! This is India.

Hmm.

Have you tried putting it somewhere cooler, or putting a fan blowing air over it?

Routers and modems overheating are so rare that (short of professional grade equipment that wasnt cooled correctly) I have never heard of any overheating.

But mine does.I've heard and seen that some people keep their router/modems/switches/hubs on 24/7. My aunt herself uses it for 24/7.

She has a d-link router (only wired connection available)

3 d-link 2750u

2 digisol dg-bg 4300n.

A tata photon +

A bsnl an1020-21.

She has some d-linkl switches.

And she also has mobile internet.

And some more. And on top of that, she's looking to buy a tata photon wimax. it's cool.

Get something from Asus, Netgear or Cisco (linksys) u shouldnt have any problems with those brands and ive never really heard of an "aftermarket" modem or router overheating but my thompson ones i have got from my isp are like your d-link get so hot and just shit themselves i have had to put them in the freezer a few times just to cool them so i can turn it back on asap.
