So I have a question. I want to build a rig, and have literally everything but a HDD and SSD. I am wondering if I can skip the SSD and just get the HDD working, but I also need to decide whether or not to use Windows 7 or 10. So here’s the question I have: which one runs faster on a HDD?

Thanks!

Who needs fancy graphics and high resolutions when you can get a 60 FPS frame rate on iGPUs?

Windows 10 by virtue of the Fast Boot feature. However, Fast Boot only kicks in if you shut down the machine. If you reboot, it doesn't work, which given how Fast Boot actually works, makes sense.

Otherwise, I don't think it matters.

Windows 10 should run faster on either one. You can always buy an SSD later and make it your boot drive though I highly recommend getting an SSD straight, the difference it makes in not just bootup speed but overall fluidity is like night and day.

Winning an argument with a woman step by step

step one - talk to her

step two - fight with her for 2 hours even if you are really right

step three - admit that she is right for the sake of your safety

step four - realize that you have accomplished nothing and she still thinks you were wrong and now she thinks you are even more stupid

10 might boot faster, but once booted I feel 10 is slower as it does a ton more background processes.

Personally, just get a SSD, even a small one for the OS is better than none. Don't know about worldwide, but pricing here on 120GB class SSDs have gone down again similar to where they were before prices started going up.

Use windows 10, but a general rule i use is that you should never have the OS and Programs on the same Harddrive. Just get an cheap second hand 60 Gb SSD if money is the issue and a hardrive for games

Personally id get 120-240 Gb SSD for smaller programs and a 1Tb+ hardrive for everything else
