RGB strip plugged into RGB header on Mobo causes whining sound. That shouldnt be normal right?

hey guys

So I bought some cable mod RGB strips that are Aura Sync compatible and I plugged them in and they make a really high pitched whining sound when plugged in and turned on. What is generally the item at fault in this situation?

would it be the RGB cable or the header?

Edit: I discovered it's coming from the RGB strip. It starts whining when the Magnetic strip sticks to the case. the moment it is peeled off it doesn't whine. Why is that?

coil whine isn't normal per say but it's pretty common to happen on electronics. and when it does there's usually nothing you can do about it. try re plugging it in might be a bad contact otherwise try another strip

  • 1 year later...

I've got the same problem with Cable Mod's RGB WideBeam LED Strip and Asus ROG Strix z390-E Gaming Motherboad. It's driving me nuts. Any clues?
