Hey there

So a few days ago my gpu, which i bought it from ebay, arrived few days ago.

But what a surprise, the gpu seems to be broken..

The thing is that at 800x600 i get no weird shapes on my monitors, but the thing changes when im trying to increase the resolution..I also get code 43 while trying to install the driver for it

It's intresting because the pics are all made by phone but if i make a ss through pc printscreen the shapes disappears.(I've tried several m/bs, monitors, ports).

Now im trying to fix it and im looking forward to any ideas to which may cause this so i can repair it

You should be able to return it

Join the Appleitionist cause! See spoiler below for answers to common questions that shouldn't be common!

Spoiler

Q: Do I have a virus?!
A: If you didn't click a sketchy email, haven't left your computer physically open to attack, haven't downloaded anything sketchy/free, know that your software hasn't been exploited in a new hack, then the answer is: probably not.

Q: What email/VPN should I use?
A: Proton mail and VPN are the best for email and VPNs respectively. (They're free in a good way)

Q: How can I stay anonymous on the (deep/dark) webzz???....

A: By learning how to de-anonymize everyone else; if you can do that, then you know what to do for yourself.

Q: What Linux distro is best for x y z?

A: Lubuntu for things with little processing power, Ubuntu for normal PCs, and if you need to do anything else then it's best if you do the research yourself.

Q: Why is my Linux giving me x y z error?

A: Have you not googled it? Are you sure StackOverflow doesn't have an answer? Does the error tell you what's wrong? If the answer is no to all of those, message me.

The fact that you can't capture them save off-screen suggests the monitor, to me.

There's nothing wrong with the monitor, If the monitor was the issue then the artifacts would show up at 800x600. The GPU is dying/dead and appears to struggle outputting higher than 800x600.

There's not much you can do, and I wouldn't try to repair it. I'd open a case if it was sold as working and get your money back, then buy one that works.

Was it listed as "For Parts or Not Working"? If it was listed as FPNW, you're boned. Without being an expert in how GPUs work, my initial feeling is that it's the chip itself that's screwed.

If it was listed as anything other than FPNW, message the seller and send this (and only this):

"The GPU you sent me displays artifacts on the screen and is unusable. Please send a return label for a full refund."

If their answer is anything other than, "Here you go," open a claim with eBay for Item Not As Described and get your money back that way. The seller's return policy does not matter--if they list something as working and it doesn't work, eBay will step in and give you your money back. GPUs don't just break like that unless they were poorly packaged or broken to begin with.

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.

Not necessarily. GPU failure is a likely cause, but it's not the only one, particularly in view of the fact that artifacts cannot be recorded.

One of the popular YouTubers posted a vid about buying a GTX 750Ti from eBay. When he took it apart he discovered it was actually at GTX 580. Although he got scammed, he downloaded the proper drivers and the card worked perfectly. This isn't the exact video I originally watched but you'll get the idea...

Point being, is it possible it's a different GPU?

Setup // CPU: 7700k@5.0Ghz w/ H100i v2 // MB: MSI Z270 Gaming M5 // HDD: 1x500GB 960EVO 1x500GB 850EVO 2x4TB 7,200 Barracudas // RAM: 16GB 3000MHz Corsair Vengeance // GPU: ASUS GTX 1080 Turbo @ 2000MHz w/ NZXT G12 // PSU: 550W EVGA G2 // Case: Phanteks P400S TG

If ordering a 750 Ti and getting a 580 is a scam, then sign me up as a victim.

I've already talked with him and explained him that the gpu is broken and he agreed to give me some of the money back, he didnt responded since then.

I opened just today a request to ebay for this case asking for at least half money as we and seller agreed, let's see how it goes..

I just said half because i didnt wanted to send it back because it would take a lot.

Im asking for a idea of this doing it because i've someone which is working in this area of, let's say domain.

You know eBay will make him pay for return shipping, right? By accepting a partial refund, you're paying half for a GPU and letting him get away with ripping you off.

This is the gpu z which the seller posted it but when I ran gpu z myself some of the fields were blank. The gpu is not at me atm because I'm trying to fix it but if it's so important I can try to make one

I don't do partial refunds for stuff i sell on ebay.  I sold a Gen 1 Mega Drive a few months ago and the buyer got in touch said the sound wasn't working through the RF.  I explained to him very calmly that he was using the wrong type of tuning on his TV.  He was adamant that a cap had blown or something and if i refunded him 'Part' of the money he could fix it.  I send him a return postage label and low and behold.  Got it on my own TV through the RF working a treat.  DON'T DO PARTIAL REFUNDS!!

With all the Trolls, Try Hards, Noobs and Weirdos around here you'd think i'd find SOMEWHERE to fit in!

Ok, this suggests that you bought a GPU from China.

1. That is not a GTX 750 Ti

2. By only asking for a partial, you're screwing yourself and letting this guy walk away with half your money for a GPU that cost him pennies

I will make one final plea, then you're on your own: contact eBay and amend your claim. Tell them you did further research and found out that the card you have isn't even really the card he says it is, and you want a full refund. You're willing to return the card at the seller's expense, but because the card is a fake, you want a full refund and not the half you originally asked for. You might get a full refund from them while you're on the phone, without having to send anything back, but don't ask for that or it looks shady.

Seriously, at the very least, this guy misrepresented his card as working and he knew it doesn't. Why would you reward that behavior? You'll never fix that card--never. It's dead. The GPU itself is dead. If you want to pay someone 50% of the asking price for a card that's worth maybe 5% of it for the cooler, that's on you, but as an eBay seller who goes out of his way to ensure stuff works, responds promptly to correct any problems and does not do partial refunds, please don't let this guy get away with it. Any seller willing to do a partial refund is a seller who knows they're pushing shit, and they just want to fleece what they can from you and make you go away.

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.

Not necessarily: just keep your eye out for deals. In any case, you shouldn't accept a faulty GPU just because the market is silly at the moment.

Like me; I bought a faulty hd 6990; the item weren’t described as it turned up, (he said most likely drivers or something, couldn’t see broken caps in the images either) turns out on the rear of the 2nd gpu is three missing caps....

yayyyyy

Yeah... I sold a motherboard and someone bent the pins, told me the ram did not work in it, and sent it back without the socket cover/protection. I pushed the pin back into place, and it worked perfectly... but then knocked a resistor off... and broke it. :( Managed a bodge resolder, and someone bought it "parts not working" but I mentioned in the comments that is working, but I cannot guarantee my repair work. Sadly I only then got enough to cover my lost postage (3 times as twice for the idiot who broke it the first time, and second on the final sale), so I broke even a bit.

Selling a few things on Ebay, I've had trouble with that motherboard, and an old SSD that was sent out working, returned completely dead :( So all in all I've lost about £60 (even if only counting postage and fees) or more in sales from people killing kit sent to them.

I also gave up trying to buy RAM on ebay, as 2 out of 3 attempts were wrongly listed as the wrong size, type etc. :/

I feel your pain: I sold a fully functional i7-6800K on ebay, only for the buyer to declare that it was "completely dead" and then send it back in that condition. Thankfully I was able to make a successful warranty claim to Intel.
