Hey everyone, I was hoping to get some help on this issue but I have a HP p6-2103wb with the following specs

Upgraded CPU- i5 2400 quad core 3.1 ghz
Installed GPU- Geforce GT 640 (350w)
Stock RAM- 8gb
Stock HDD- 1tb

And a stock psu with 300w and stock motherboard ( don't know if off the top of my head but I know it's a foxconn 2ABF ) or something like that)

So I got a GT 1030 today 2gb ( 300w) and when I plug it in and turn it off to install my new GT 1030 and when I turn it on I'm greeted with the HP boot screen followed by a beep. Then a few seconds later I'd wanna say 40 seconds I get another one and another the same amount of seconds later. I leave to get a drink and come back some mins later to see that I'm at the windows 10 log in screen but the resolution is messed up 1280x728 and still a few beeps here and there. I go to change the resolution to 1920x1080 and I get a beep and black screen.

I'm just confused as the GPU I have now works fine but is 1gb and a 350w requirement but my new one is a 2gb with a 300w requirement. Is it something else? Does anyone have any clue what this issue is? I'd be happy to provide any additional information needed.  Just don't wanna return the card if it's something fixable

If it's beeping I'm guessing bios wants you to go in and save the new config.

If you're interested in a product please download and read the manual first.

Just a note. Quote the answer in the reply so that the person knows you have responded. You are alerted because you started the thread but other users have to subscribe and they usually wont because you would end up with too many alerts.

Did you uninstall the drivers for the GT 640 and install ones for the GT 1030?

Hi, I'm in the process of installing the new drivers now it's all some gameready driver they are all the same name just different versions. But I'll try that and see what happens

Would you kindly be able to possibly guide me through on how to save the new configuration?

Once you have entered bios it's usually self explanatory. Just read all the information on the screen.

I've searched this on HP Support Forums, Maybe you should try this?

I'm Quoting,

"Hi Sarge1D,

Go back into the bios and switch from UEFI mode to Legacy mode. There might be a slight incompatability between the Sapphire video card and the HP bios.

Post your results.

As side note:  I suggested in a post a while back that HP do exactly what you are experiencing to allow video cards that have a vbios function difference compared to the bios in the HP PC (beep 6 times as a warning but allow the PC to boot)."

Maybe you should try the above answer from HP Support Forums.

Switch from UEFI mode to Legacy mode in the BIOS.
