increasing cell phone wifi range

hi

telus has a free wifi hotspot 40 metres from me but i cant connect to it from that range.  if i move about 20 feet closer i can get a signal.  is there a wifi repeater or something that will work with my cell phone to give it an increase in wifi range?

eh.... you could use a wifi repeater, but it's a hotspot right? I am not sure you can configurate a wifi repeater without knowing the network name/having physical access to it.

its the free #TELUS wifi hotspot.  do you think a repeater device would even work on a cell phone, how would i log into it?

repeaters are to increase wifi range, they use the weak signal and create a new network. The repeater has a name and a key to log in like regular wifi. But I don't think you can use a free hotspot and increase its range.

do you have a link to a product that may work?  anybody else have my problem and found a solution?
