Completely new to PC buildning, check if its OK

A-T-T-I-C

Hi!

I have never built a PC before and wonder if this one is good. is an old computer wich most part doesn't even exist in pcpartpickers list. Uses a GT530 grapichscard with a athlon x4 645 CPU, the power supply is 300W. Obviously it's quite bad, hence I'm gonna build a new one.  Heres the link to my maybe new build: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/VbGWZR

I'm just gonna go true the list as it was advised:

1. How big is your budget and what is your location?

My budget is around 1000€-1500€, if necessary i can save up even more. I live in Finland and use €.

2. What is the system going to be used for?

I'm gonna use it for Gaming. I'm playing a lot of paradox grand strategy (HoI4, EU4, CK2) and even more war thunder. Occasionally I might play a fps like Dirty Bomb with a few friends. After upgrade i want to be able to play squad and arma.

3. Monitors

I currently only have one 4:3 monitor, I'm not sure about the resolution but guessing 1680x1050. I'm planning to invest n a new monitor after the computer, but that's a 2'nd priority.

4. Peripherals

I don't think I need anything new, currently using windows 7 64 bit.

5. Why are you upgrading?

Because my old one cant run anything. it's an old computer wich most part doesn't even exist in pcpartpickers list. Uses a GT530 grapichscard  with a athlon  x4 645 CPU, the power supply is 300W. It's my friend old wich he got when my other friend bought a new one. The case is a MicroAtX. The side on the case is always open for better airflow. I have a lot of harrives just laying around at home. I have everything I know about my system in my profile.

Thanks!

I would say choose a better coffee lake. You need windows 10, less errors, more optimized and that 1680x1050 would not be optimal for a fun gaming experience, atleast a 1920x1080 60 hz, you also need a computer case, a micro atx one because that's what you chose for your motherboard option,

Btw 1680x1050 is a 16:10 resolution. A 4:3 resolution is pretty much a square screen and not widescreen format.

a 7600k is more expensive for basically the same CPU as the 8350k (once you overclock both of them), you'd be paying 55 dollars more for the CPU to save 30 dollars on the motherboard, that just doesn't sound smart to buy last gen when current gen comes out cheaper.

@A-T-T-I-C with Intel I would go to a Single 8GB stick instead of a 2x4GB kit, it will give you more room to grow with more ram in the future and unlike Ryzen you don't see that significant a drop in gaming performance. I would also check the PSU List

and get something from Tier 1 or Tier 2 so you get a quality unit.

drop down to a 1070, upgrade to a i5 or ryzen 5, get win 10 and change to a single stick of ram so you have room to upgrade. I notice in here you have no case, no cooler (that cpu doesn't come with a cooler), no hard drives or ssd's, no operating system, no case fans (depends on what case you buy, some come with more than enough fans)

it's a decent start for your first time but you have some details to iron out

Here's what I would revise your list to

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Vb7kLJ

I added the cheapest case available, cases are a very subjective thing, so you'll have to make that decision

Edited because I accidentally left his ram kit and the one i picked. New price without the second ram kit is 1081

Insanity is not the absence of sanity, but the willingness to ignore it for a purpose. Chaos is the result of this choice. I relish in both.

get a ryzen 1600 or i5 8400 instead of the 8350k, the 4 cores won't be enough for a gtx 1080. also get a better PSU, a corsair CX/vengeance, be quiet pure power 10 or coolermaster masterwatt (just masterwatt) would be much better choices.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X Heatsink: Gelid Phantom Black GPU: Palit RTX 3060 Ti Dual RAM: Corsair DDR4 2x8GB 3000Mhz mobo: Asus X570-P case: Fractal Design Define C PSU: Superflower Leadex Gold 650W

Looking more into it, you're right. It's a 16:10 screen.

I use a Micro Atx case right now, can't i still use that?

On my old I use a Micro Atx case, I've removed the side for better airflow. I have alot of hardrives just sitting around at home. can't I use my old Windows 7?

you CAN use win 7 but you SHOULDN'T.

It's old and outdated and windows 10 is so much better

XP is unsupported now and it won't be long before windows 7 is too, no point in starting a new computer with old software
