oculus runtime error "cant reach oculus runtime service"

Hey guys!

So since today I cant use my oculus rift anymore because of the error "cant reach oculus runtime service". I made a clean reinstall and tried some things i found online like simply restarting the runtime app, but that didnt help. Obviously restarting the pc didnt work either (tried several times). 

I really appreciate any help!

PS: oculus isnt updating anything

PS: oculus isnt updating anything

You'll need to manually stop the oculus runtime service in your computer. You'll do this through a command prompt command that should let you turn it off and on. Look up this error on oculus' website and there should be a full detailed description on how to do this.

There is an ongoing issue that affects anyone with an Oculus Rift. They are working on a fix as we speak.

so it started occuring since today for everyone else as well? When can I expect a hotfix update and where do you get the update?

Already tried that through the commands and also the windows services app but vainly

Yep it's happening for everyone.

 

They haven't said when the fix will be ready or how we'll get it. But I would expect the fix AT LEAST by the end of the day, Pacific time, if not sooner. And since the Oculus software doesn't really work right now (including the ability to update), we may have to download a patch off their website.
