windows on usb

I want to know if i didn't mess up the installation of windows on my usb drive because when i try to see the files it says that i need to format the drive?

Ok, let me get this strait: you installed windows on a flash drive. Was it a windows portable version? I've heard people installing non-portable windows OS's on USBs, but it gave a number of issues.

Did you use the Microsoft Media Creation Tool, Rufus and an ISO or something else?

To view files, select Browse drive (or something along those line, I don't have english edition atm). You can't run bootable disc while in OS.
