Is my system VR ready?

legacytp
Go to solution Solved by porina,

Try some of the VR benchmarks, like VR Mark Orange room, and there's also one for Steam VR.

My suspicion is the system is close to the absolute minimum... might get away with it, might not. Note the Rift has lower requirements than the Vive.

I am thinking about getting an HTC Vive or Oculus Rift, but I want to know if I need to upgrade my system. Here is my current parts list:

CPU: Intel Xeon X5650

CPU Cooler: Cryorig H5 Universal

Motherboard: Intel DX58SO

Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws Series 12GB (3 x 4GB) DDR3-1600

Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM

Video Card: MSI Radeon R9 390 8GB

Case: NZXT S340

Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA NEX 650W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular

Nope. It can barely scrape by, I would not risk it.

I'm running my CPU at 3.75 GHz, GPU at 1.12 GHz, and RAM at 1.833 GHz. Will the overclock help my system performance during VR?
