I own a pre-buit Megaware computer, that came with an ECS H55h-cm motherboard and an i3 530. It was always thermal throttling, with the STOCK VOLTAGE SET TO 1.524V! I tried to lower it on the BIOS, but I couldn't find any voltage regurating options. Tried software tuning as well, but no luck. I bought a new processor, a Xeon X3430, but the voltage remains the same, but now only 3,99GB of the 8GB of RAM is usable. Tried all I know to solve the memory problems: BIOS, MSCONFIG, Virtual Memory, etc. Any ideas?

Clear CMOS?

Board could be dying, or reading incorrectly.

Did you try to reseat your CPU cooler on the i3?

Pretty sure if it were actually at 1.5V or above your CPU would be dead.

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

How long have you had it? While the i3 530 is a bit of a hardy CPU, it's still only 32nm, 1.5v would eventually kill the chip, however the fact it thermal throttles suggests that it might have been running on that voltage. Bad motherboard in all honesty, get a more recent system.

Yours faithfully

Cleared CMOS about 3 times, also put new thermal paste and reseated the cooler a couple of times as well

I bought it about 5 years ago. It idles at mid 60's (Celsius). I own a few computers (7700k + SLI 1080TI, 4790k + GTX 1060, 4670k + SLI 780, Dual Xeon L5640 + Quadro K2000, etc)

But this i3 + 550Ti (Now with a R9 280X Black Edition) was my first computer, I just keep it as a HTPC on my living room kkk

Probably a dead board.
